Dear Tenant:
KEYSURE is a security innovation for tenant keys. For the first time, the tenant actually takes part in the security of the "emergency key" given to management for emergency use.
KEYSURE is not a "trust system" where the tenant is asked to "entrust" a key to someone and then wonder about it ever after.
What is KEYSURE? It's a simple plastic container that encapsulates individual keys. These containers make up the KEYSURE TENANT KEY SECURITY SYSTEM.
A tenant's key is individually protected inside the KEYSURE container, where it cannot be handled or copied. Once the key is put into a container and snapped closed, the container must be broken to gain access to the key inside.
These containers are not re-usable and each time a key is accessed, a new container will be needed to re-encapsulate the individual key. Since these are emergency keys, the need to access the emergency key may rarely occur.
How KEYSURE works!
A tenant actually participates by signing a signature on both inside halves of the container. The key is then placed in the container and it's snapped shut. Very simple! The signatures are on the inside, where they cannot be read and the tenant remains anonymous. The tenant is further asked to sign his "mothers maiden name" on the outside, where it can be read. Mothers maiden name serves as a visual check for the tenant and serves to confuse any criminal type unfamiliar with the system.
A number code is applied to the outside of the container, which corresponds to the code number of the tenants apartment. These code numbers are selected randomly and the tenant is made aware of this number. To retrieve a key to an individual apartment, the code list will have to be referred to. The KEYSURE containers are stored in locked cabinets or drawers.
The KEYSURE SYSTEM is designed to eliminate fear, on the part of the tenant, of giving a key to management. It also serves to protect management and building service employees from false accusations. A "WIN/WIN" SECURITY CONCEPT THAT BENEFITS BOTH PARTIES!
In the event of an emergency both parties have access to the key which is kept in a locked cabinet. KEYSURE allows tenants to monitor their keys and detect use.
Management's responsibility to the tenant is to tell the tenant when the key has been used and then have the tenant repeat the above security procedure.
